Brownwood, Early and Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a grass fire Tuesday morning at 11:37 am on the side of the road on Highway 279 North, on top of Day’s Hill.

Fire units arrived to find a small grass fire that had started on the side of the roadway. Units were able to stop forward progression rather quickly. Mop-up proved difficult due to the amount of rocks and cactus in the area.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. There was no damage to property or equipment and no injuries were reported. The fire burned a total of about two acres.
