Ella Mae Burkett

Ella Mae Burkett, 72 of Zephyr, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 after losing her battle with Dementia. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 10:00 am at Zephyr Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August, 29, 2023 at Brownwood Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Ella was born in Brownwood, Texas to Susie Mae Graves on January 27,1951.

She married the love of her Life May 7,1965 and had four beautiful children. In her early 20’s, she devoted her time to Beauty School and pursued a career as a Hairstylist for over 20 years. Ella loved caring for her plants, loved gardening, crocheting Afghans for her family, playing bingo, camping, and was always up for a good game of cards. Most of all, she adored her family.

Ella was preceded in death by her mother Susie Mae Graves; 5 sisters: Georgie Mills, Rose Britton, Billie Miller, Mildred Kinsey and Frances Harden; 1 brother: Bud Kinsey; and 1 Son-in-law: Larry Hart.

Ella Mae Burkett is survived by her husband Billy Ray Burkett, 1 daughter: Christie Hart of Zephyr, 3 sons: Donnie R. Burkett and wife Tira Burkett of Brownwood, Jody Burkett and wife Esther Burkett of Zephyr, James Burkett and wife Amanda Burkett of Zephyr. 3 sisters: Donna Jones, Susie Tucker, and Virginia Berry; 4 brothers: Jonny Dale Gowin, Robby Kinsey, Dudley Kinsey and Danny Segado along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We would like to extend our gratitude for the help, support and kindness during this difficult time. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Solaris and Oakridge Manor for their continued and supportive care.
