Truman Travis Gunter, 83 of Brownwood, Texas passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. A visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home, Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM with a graveside service, Monday, August 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Democrat Cemetery with Bill Slaymaker officiating.

Travis was born April 20, 1940 in Comanche County, Texas to J.T. and Della Gunter. He graduated from Brownwood high school and married his high school sweetheart, Fay Willen June 15, 1960. Travis worked for the Camp Bowie Drive in through high school and after for seven years before going to work for M & F Gauge and Specialty Company where he retired as Plant Manager after 42 years of service. Travis served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church since 1996 and read his bible every night. Travis and Fay loved to travel and see new things, Fay was the talker and Travis was a very quiet understanding man. He enjoyed being in the garden, driving down the road, photography, and listening to Fay. Travis was a peaceful, loyal, dedicated man whom you could always count on. His love for God, his wife and their daughter was always in the forefront in everything he did.

Travis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Fay Gunter; daughter, Susan Diane Pettijohn and husband, Robert Paul; grandson, Michael Wayne Pettijohn and his fiancé, Gissell and her children, Victor and Jailyn; brother, Don Gunter and wife, Charlene; sisters-in-law, Margie (Sissy) Flippin & Eva Gunter; Brother-in-law, Bill Willen and several nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Travis was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Gunter; father and mother, J.T. Gunter and Della Gunter; step mother, Ola Mae Gunter; sister, Pat Westfall and her husband Dwayne; brother, John (Wayne) Gunter; step-sister, Margie Anderson; and step-brother, Gayle Scifres.
