Howard Payne University recently became one of the first two educational institution member partners of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). The BWA General Council approved HPU as a member partner through a unanimous vote during July’s 2023 BWA Annual Gathering in Stavanger, Norway.

The BWA is an international network of Baptists with five key ministry areas: strengthening (worship, fellowship and unity); leading (mission and evangelism); responding (aid, relief and community development); defending (religious freedom, human rights and justice); and advancing (theological reflection and transformational leadership).
