Lions cross country team places 11th at Jim Ned meet

TUSCOLA – The Brownwood Lions came in 11th as a team in their first meet of the season Saturday at the Warpath Invitational, hosted by Jim Ned High School.

The Lions produced 211 points which left them behind Jim Ned (91 points), San Angelo Central (98), Holliday (111), Wall (132), Crane (144), Breckenridge (145), Eldorado (219), Hawley (248), Zephyr (265), and Christoval (269).

Leading the way for the Lions was Bennett Windham in 13th place in a time of 18:14.3, trailed by Caden Carnes (52nd, 19:37.05), Noah Lambert (54th, 19:41.4), Steven Rodriguez (85th, 20:32.68), Braylon Harvey (115th, 21:33.68), and Ty Tindol (127th, 22:16.34).

Competing for Zephyr were James Evetts (34th, 19:01.43), Eli Williams (46th, 19:27.31), Aaron Fagon (47th, 19:32.74), Riley McCuller (82nd, 20:28.12), and Reese Hamm (89th, 20:42.97).

Brownwood’s Mark Martinez won the JV boys race.

The Lions will be back in action Aug. 30 at Gordon Wood Stadium for the Brownwood Invitational.
