James Fredrick McQueen, Sr., age 76, of Bangs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023. A memorial service for James will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 19, at Heartland Funeral Home.

James was born on February 20, 1947 in Brownwood to James Corbert and Frances McQueen. James enlisted in the United States Army where he served over seas for over a year and in the States for another year. He also reenlisted for another 6 years at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1969. After being honorably discharged, James was a trucker for most of his working career. He also worked as a mechanic for the City of Brownwood for a few years. He married his wife, Jennifer, on April 30, 1978. James enjoyed fishing, tinkering around the house, and home improvement. James was strong and tough. He never let on that he did not feel well. He always kept going and would do anything for anyone to help them. James would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He was a wonderful and special man and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his children, Jennifer Jaleen McQueen-Stark and husband Christopher of Arlington, and James “Jimmy” McQueen Jr. and wife Toni of Woodward, Oklahoma; grandson, Dakota Bowser of Woodward, Oklahoma; and sister, Janice Coleman of Tennessee. He is also survived by Corina and Lonnie Goins, who were like family to him, along with their children, grandchildren, and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and parents.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
