Jacoby Jones and Bobby Evers, teammates on the Bangs Dragons’ 2002 state finalist football team, were announced as the third class of the Bangs Hall of Honor during Thursday night’s Meet the Dragons event at Memorial Stadium.

Jones went on to play football and attend Baylor University and currently coaches at Yoakum High School under former Bangs head coach Bo Robinson.

Evers ran track at Texas Tech and now coaches and teaches at Midlothian ISD.

“Those two were childhood friends and grew up together and it’s always cool making that phone call,” Bangs ISD Superintendent Dr. Josh Martin said in a Friday morning interview on KOXE. “Every inductee we’ve had has had really big-time honors in their career and being in the Hall of Honor at Bangs is really something special to them .It’s cool to bring back those old stories and connect them with the new.”
