Philip Hector Hickman, 68, of Rising Star, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM.

Philip was born February 5, 1955 in Brownwood, Texas to Issac Newton & Della Denelia (Jones) Hickman.  Philip graduated from high school in Rising Star, Texas and married his beloved Betty Elizabeth Johnson, June 1, 1974 at the First Baptist Church in Rising Star by candle light.  Philip lived an adventurous life and had many passions from riding dirt bikes and street motorcycles, spending time with great friends firing off the guns, fishing, hunting and anything to do on the water.  He would take out a canoe, kayak, mountain bike or just go tubing down the river, he loved outdoor activities.  Philip owned a cobbler shop doing boot and shoe repair.  He made fixing footwear an art keeping the rancher’s favorite pair of boots soled or customizing a shoe for someone to balance out their step, it was a passion.  In his younger days he would serve as an umpire in little league games, coach women’s softball leagues and lead them to wins and he still had time to put his cleats on and play some baseball himself.  His favorite passion was his best friend, his beloved wife, Betty.  They were companions who were devoted to one another, best friends that never got weary of each other’s company.  Philip and Betty have 3 beloved furry friends that they spoiled like children and loved them the same.  To know Philip was to know true friendship, love and loyalty.

Philip is survived by his loving wife, Betty Hickman of Rising Star; their three furry “children”, Sparky, Milo & Cody of Rising Star; sister, Belinda Hickman Georgia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Hazel Rowlette of Hamilton, Ohio and Annie Jo Perry of Luling, Texas; niece, Amy & Keri Georgia of Oklahoma; nephew, Chad Geogia of California; 6 great nieces & nephews, Kelsi & Cameron Georgia, Destiny, Brooke, Austin & Connor Rumbo; 1 great-great nephew, Kol Isaac Lackass.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents and a great niece, Jazmin Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Corine T. Smith Animal Shelter at https://www.ctsanimalctr.org/copy-of-home
