The Brownwood Fire Department recently responded to a structure fire at 1003 Brinn Street that resulted in $10,000 worth of damage.

According to a BFD press release, the fire department was dispatched at 3:16 p.m. Thursday, July 6 as Chief 9, Chief 92, Chief 93, Truck 9, Rescue 9, and Engine 92 responded with assistance from the Early Fire Department, Lifeguard Ambulance, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the Red Cross, and the County Fire Marshal.

Upon arrival, the fire department was met with a fully involved mobile home fire, with the fire starting to spread to the surrounding grass fields. The fire was quickly contained using fire department hose lines. The home sustained extensive damage. Two occupants were displaced due to the fire damage sustained. Firefighters performed an overhaul checking for fire extension. The fire was electrical in nature. There were no reported injuries. Red Cross was on scene to assist with relocation of the residents.

It took 16 minutes to get the fire under control and units were on the scene for 1 hour and 47 minutes. The fire was electrical in nature but the cause is unknown.

Then on Sunday, July 9 at 2:39 p.m., the BFD responded to a structure fire at : 4206 Hwy 377 S-Rodeo Office.

The Brownwood Fire Department was called non-emergent to the fire station for a report of a fire in the building that occurred at 9 a.m. the morning of July 9. It was extinguished by personnel on scene but reporting party wanted E92 to check and make sure it was ok. E92 arrived on the scene to find approximately a 12×12 metal building that was Brown County Rodeo Association’s office. It had charred and burned soffit on 3 sides of the building. The building was checked for hot spots with the thermal imaging camera and applied water to all the burned areas. Asst. Chief LeMond investigated the scene and determined the cause was electrical in nature. All units cleared the scene.

Chief 93 and Engine 92 responded and the fire was under control in five minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene for 1 hour and 7 minutes as $5,000 worth of damage was estimated by an electrical with an unknown cause.
