Debra (Debbie) Jean Fox

Debra Jean Fox, 69 of lake Brownwood, Texas passed away Monday, July 3, 2023. A memorial service will be held for Debra Fox at the Community Center located at 160 Pency Dr, Brownwood, TX 76801 on July 22nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We are asking everyone to bring a side dish or dessert for a potluck in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heartland funeral home in Early.

Debra Jean Fox was born on August 20, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas to Virgie Mae and Howard Eugene Powell. Debbie met her husband Lee Charles Fox at Odessa High School. They got married in November 2, 1972, and had two sons, Jason and Kenny Fox. They raised their boys in the quiet town of Baird, where they became well known in the community. Debbie and Charles relocated to Breckenridge after her sons graduated and started their own families.

Debbie worked as a correctional officer at the state prison until her retirement in 2011. Driven by her passion for animals, she established Fox’s Kennel from 2010 until 2016. Debbie and Charles moved to Lake Brownwood where they spent the recent years together with their beloved dog, Sage.

Debbie is survived by her husband Lee Charles Fox of Brownwood; Her son, Jason and Aubrey Fox of Claremont, NC; Sisters, Teresa and Kevin Forgue Yukon, OK, Vickie and Jimmy Ahrlett of Brownwood, Shirley Lovelace of Buffalo Gap, Kim and Tracy West of Buda, and her brother in-law John Fox of Brownwood; seven grandchildren, Chelsea Fox of Fort Worth, Ashley Fox of Abilene, Charles Fox of Merkel, Garrett Fox of Josephine, Allie Whittington of Mauckpoint, IN., Jacob Inman and Lorelei Inman of Claremont, NC; and 2 great-grandchildren, Elijah and Stephen Whittington of Mauckpoint, IN. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Virgie and Howard Eugene Powell, her brother-in-law, Kenneth Eugene Fox, and her son, Kenny Charles Fox.
