Raymond ‘Ray’ Dale Christner

Raymond “Ray” Dale Christner, 76 of Brownwood went to be with the Lord, peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Ray’s family will host a visitation from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 5th at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral service will be 10 am Thursday, July 6th in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.

Ray was born on Thursday, May 1, 1947 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to George and Maudie Christner. He was raised in a family of two sisters, Linda, Darlene and one brother Elmer. Ray enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 with his last duty assignment on the Air Craft Carrier-USS Constellation (CVA-64) for deployment to Vietnam. Ray later met Neva Windham and they soon married on August 16, 1975. He was a beloved husband to his wife Neva for 48 years and they had a family of 2 daughters, Brandy and Tanya, and 1 son Raymond. Ray enjoyed fishing and spending afternoons watching “westerns” on television. Ray exhibited kindness and unconditional love to his family and friends.

Ray will be missed beyond measure by his family, friends and all who loved him. However, his memories and stories will always be remembered.

Ray is survived by his wife Neva Christner of Brownwood; daughters, Brandy Tunnell and husband Justin of Zephyr, Tanya Holden and husband Brian of Comanche; son Raymond Christner and wife Julie of Brownwood; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Elmer Christner; sisters, Linda Jackson and Darlene Moore; grandson Owen Norway and granddaughter Penny Christner.
