Mildon Darrell Atchley, age 82, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023. Visitation with family will be at Heartland Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, July 2, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 3 at Heartland Funeral Home, with Pastor Sterling Lentz officiating.

Darrell was born to Mildon and Neva Atchley on October 6, 1940 in Wichita Falls. He attended Early High School. On June 11, 1960, Darrell married Norma, the love of his life at First Christian Church in Mason, Texas. Darrell started selling insurance early in his life and continued to sell insurance while working as a truck driver and after. He often took Norma on the road with him when he was traveling, and enjoyed meeting people all over the United States.

Darrell was a man that loved life and always had a smile on his face. He never met a stranger and was a jolly man that loved to playfully tease. Darrell was kind to everyone he met and served as a Diaconate and greeter at First Christian Church. He loved to have fun and enjoyed square dancing, golf, bowling, traveling and anything having to do with Elvis Presley. Darrell also enjoyed spending time with friends drinking coffee at Whataburger.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Norma Coates Atchley; son, Monte Atchley and wife, Laura; daughter, Starla Tedford and husband Tracy; grandchildren, Casey Carlisle and wife Kailei Carlisle, Kali Tedford and husband Liam Edlinger, Elen Atchley, and Sarah Atchley; great-grandchildren, Avery and Tanner Carlisle; childhood friends, Bobby Keith of Oklahoma and Edward Kelly, as well as many cousins and friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheryl Atchley and his son-in-love, Cory Kitahata; cousin and coffee buddy, Rick Frakes and a cousin that was more like a little brother, Jerry Keith.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
