A funeral service for Vivian Reid, age 94, of Brownwood, will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.  Private burial will follow in the Regency Cemetery in Mills County.

Vivian passed from this life on Monday, June 26, 2023, in a local nursing facility.

Vivian Ione Reid was born on December 27, 1928, in Regency, to Albert Alton and Elsie Valera (Egger) Reid.  She graduated from Goldthwaite High School and went on to attend Tarleton State University, Wayland Baptist University, and graduated from Southern Methodist University with her bachelor of arts.  Vivian went to work as a teacher for the Department of Defense for over 30 years.  She taught in Canada, Libya, Germany, Turkey, Korea, Japan, among other countries.

Vivian was a lifelong Baptist, with her last membership with First Baptist Church of Brownwood.  She enjoyed gardening, taking walks, nature, genealogy, cooking, art, and volunteering for church activities.

Vivian is survived by her six nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Doyle Reid and Richard Reid, and two sisters, Ramona Reid and Doris Reid.
