Lady Dragons earn 11 all-district softball honors, four superlative awards

The District 6-2A champion Bangs Lady Dragons earned 11 all-district accolades, including four superlative honors, from the league coaches.

Leading the charge was sophomore Abby Wolf, who was tabbed the District MVP; freshman shortstop Cheyenne Rush was named Newcomer of the Year; sophomore Julianna Ethridge was selected Catcher of the Year; and coach Leslea Miller and assistant Chesney Neely were voted Coaching Staff of the Year.

Landing on the first team were sophomore first baseman Jadyn Miller, junior third baseman Emily Baker, sophomore right fielder Neeley Bradley, and senior center fielder Bailey Mendieta.

Receiving honorable mention were senior second baseman Sierra Lorah, junior left fielder Jordan Valdez, and freshman Justice Baker.

Academic all-district honors were bestowed upon Wolf, Ethridge, Rush, Miller, Baker, Mendieta, Lorah, Valdez, Mariah Ruiz, and Marissa Ramirez.

The Lady Dragons finished with a 28-6 record, including 14-0 in district where they outscored their foes 191-5, and advanced to the Region I-2A semifinals – four rounds deep into the postseason.
