The City of Brownwood issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:

The Brownwood Police Department (BPD) is pleased to announce the promotions of Art Shannon and Paul Chrisman.

Shannon has been with the BPD for nearly 27 years and currently serves as patrol sergeant. Shannon has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will serve as the commander of the patrol division. Shannon will also continue as the Field Training Program coordinator.

Chrisman has been with the BPD for over 9 years and is currently a patrol officer. Chrisman has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and will command squad 2 on patrol. Chrisman will also become the department’s firearm range master.

“I am proud to promote Art and Paul to these new positions,” said Brownwood Police Chief Ed Kading. “They are both highly skilled and experienced officers who have made significant contributions to our department. I am confident that they will continue to serve our community to provide excellent, compassionate, and empathetic public service.”

The promotional process for both positions was competitive and involved a written test, a firearms qualification, and a panel interview comprised of department personnel, human resources, and Brownwood citizens.

The Brownwood Police Department is committed to providing excellent public service to the citizens of Brownwood. These promotions are a testament to the department’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to serving the community.
