The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rains across much of Central Texas, beginning Friday evening and lasting into Sunday, prompting concerns about the possibility of localized flooding.  

A Flash Flood Watch for our area will be in effect from 7pm Friday, May 12 until 8pm Saturday, May 13. Forecasters are predicting a widespread 2 to 5 inches of rain with higher rain totals possible.

City of Brownwood Emergency Management Team is closely monitoring weather conditions and is prepared to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

Roads and Low Water Crossing Preparations: 
City street crews are pre-staging barricades at low-water crossings and other areas that are prone to street flooding. Drivers should always remember to NEVER drive around barricades or through standing water on roads.

Self-Serve sandbag station:  
A self-serve sandbag station is available at under the Truman Harlow Overpass (Austin Avenue) accessed from Carnegie Street beginning at 2:00 PM. Bags and shovels will be available.
