AUSTIN – Brownwood Lady Lion freshman Hannah Deen finished tied for 7th place in the Class 4A girls high jump at the UIL Track and Field State Championships Thursday morning at Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.

Deen, the Region I-4A runner-up cleared 5-0 on her first attempt and 5-2 on the second attempt. In her effort to clear 5-4, Deen was unsuccessful on all three efforts, leaving her in the same position as Janssen Paisley of Cuero.

Deen, who advanced to regional in five events, earned a state berth in the high jump by clearing 5-5 in Lubbock – a new personal record.

Vidor’s Raegan Stephenson (5-7) went on to capture the state championship followed by silver medalist Emilee Gordy of Graham (5-6) and bronze medalist Katrina Greer of Waco Connally (5-6).
