Dewey Arnold Barber

Dewey Arnold Barber passed away from this world to meet his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the age of 89. Family will host a visitation from 6 to 8 pm on Monday May 15th at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be 2 pm on Tuesday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Dewey Arnold was born on January 31, 1934 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Floyd and Lula Barber. He had 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Dewey Arnold married Lucellia Robertson on December 23, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma.

At the age of 14, he joined the military. His career only lasted a few days, until his mother came to get him. His employment history included working for Lockheed Martin in California in the plant in 1952. In 1957, they moved to Rankin, Texas where he went on to work for Parker Drilling in the oilfield. After several transfers for Parker, they moved to Odessa, Texas in 1965. In 1978, he started working for HNG Oil Company as a drilling foreman and was later promoted to Drilling Superintendent when Enron took over HNG Oil Company. IN 1983, he was medically retired. They moved from Odessa to Bangs, Texas to retire in 1984. He lived here until his death.

Dewey Arnold was a man who loved fiercely. He loved his God, he and Lucellia were both baptized at the ages of 74 and 75 at Grosvenor Baptist Church. Grosvenor was his church home until his passing. His family was his greatest joy. Dewey Arnold loved playing dominoes and canasta with family and friends. After retirement, he discovered his love of motorcycles. He and Lucellia joined the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. They traveled all over the country with the club and friends. He loved watching the Texas Rangers play baseball.

Dewey Arnold is survived by his wife of 71 plus years, Lucellia; his children, Lenda Lansford, Larry Barber and wife Dawne, Rick Barber and wife Brenda, Cindy Gray and husband Danny; his 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchildren which include Brandy Adams and husband Jason, Ricky Barber and wife Lithia, Brady Barber, Ashley Tooley and husband Jon, Brittany Martinez and husband Jesse, Chris Lansford and wife Sarah, Sieven Taylor, Daniel Gray III and wife Lauren, Megan Hunt and husband Kaegan, and Allison Gray; he is also survived by 1 brother Jim Bob Barber of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and son-in-law David Lansford.

Dewey Arnold fought the hard fight until his last moments. He is now finally home. He will be greatly missed by all.

He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchild with all he had.
