Howard Payne University’s Bree Cason recorded her second no-hitter in two weeks this time a 7-0 victory over non-conference opponent Arlington Baptist University Thursday afternoon. The second game of the scheduled double-header was cancelled due to rain.

HPU’s Bree Cason posted a 7-0 no-hitter of Arlington Baptist University striking out five and walking just two. Cason had her first no-hitter of her career last week at the University of the Ozarks and is 4-0 in her last four appearances, all shutouts.

Maddison Cason led the Lady Jackets at the plate going 4-for-4 with a triple, 2 RBI, and a stolen base. Makayla Wesley was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Howard Payne recorded 10 hits as a team.

Zoie Garcia and Madison Forrester had two stolen bases each for the Lady Jackets.

Howard Payne recorded two runs in the first, third and fourth innings then tacked on a single run in the top of the sixth to round out the 7-0 final.

Howard Payne improves to 10-20 overall and Arlington Baptist falls to 8-23 on the year. The Lady Jackets will be at home on Friday and Saturday versus conference opponent Sul Ross State University. It will be senior weekend with a double-header on Friday starting at 1:00 pm and a single on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
