Larry David Hopkins, age 70, of Brownwood, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023. A graveside service for Larry will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, April 20 at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:30PM at Heartland Funeral Home.

Larry was born to Edna Lee and James Alfred Hopkins on July 2, 1952 in Lawton Oklahoma. He was raised in California and he graduated from Katella High School in Anaheim. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for a few years. In his retirement, he worked with the Salvation Army. Larry enjoyed writing poetry, bowling, drawing, and motorcycles. Most notably, he loved football, especially when the L.A. Rams were playing. He was a loyal and die-hard fan of the Rams. Larry was known to be a “sweetheart” due to his politeness and kindheartedness; he wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a man of few words, mostly because he was always deep in thought.

Larry is survived by his children, Jason David Hopkins, and Christine Leigh Merrick; step children, Victoria Nelson, William Cody, and Billy Jo Cody; grandchildren, Ryan, Gavin, Kaia, Nathan, Ivy, Sophie, Juanita, Cordell, Rose, KayDee, David, Zackary, and Sarha; brothers, James Noble Hopkins, and William Raymond Hopkins. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; he was everyone’s favorite uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Hopkins, and his sister, Tania Mueller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital in Larry’s name www.stjude.org/donate. Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
