Knit Together’s 2nd annual gala, A Beautiful Journey, sponsored by Brownwood Barndominiums, will take place Saturday April 22 at the Brownwood Regional Airport, beginning at 5 p.m.

Knit Together invites the public to join them for their largest fundraiser of the year as they celebrate the beautifully messy, yet sacred journey that is foster care. Knit Together invites you to delight yourself in a global adventure, fine cuisine from around the world, first class entertainment, and dancing in a one-of-a-kind experience that supports the mission of providing tangible support to our area’s foster care community.

Knit Together is a foster care ministry in Brownwood that began five years ago. There are currently 32 families serving as foster parents to 195 children in Brown County and the surrounding area.

“We love on foster kiddos and the families that care for them. We provide care packages, community events, and support groups,” Leslie Krischke said.

“We started this out of a need we personally had when we started fostering,” Matt Krischke added. “The seed of the idea was to be a resource for people when they need things to facilitate placements and help kids transition into their homes. We also do monthly events for foster families and kids like taking them to the trampoline jump park to let the parents have a night off. We’ll also host meals and holiday events, cookouts, barbecues, swim parties and all kinds of events like that to give those families a chance to meet each other and communicate.”

Knit Together’s A Beautiful Journey will feature appetizers and snacks from five countries – South Africa, India, Thailand, Mexico and France – to go along with an Italian dinner. Guests will be presented passports and receive stamps for their food stops.

Texas Transit Authority will be providing country and swing music for the dance, and a silent auction will take place with items including a $6,000 storm shelter donated by AJ Construction and Seamless Gutters.

Tickets are available for $60 each or two for $100 through the KnitTogetherTexas.com or at KOXE.

Formal attire is suggested for the event, but not required.
