PEASTER – The Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 3A No. 15 Early Lady Horns rallied from a six-run deficit to avoid a second straight District 8-3A defeat, stunning Peaster, 7-6, Tuesday.

League co-leader Early (23-4-2, 10-1) trailed Peaster (12-11, 6-5) by a 4-0 count after two innings, 5-0 after three innings and 6-0 through four. The Lady Horns closed the gap to 6-1 in the top of the fifth, then scored three runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to complete the comeback.

Down 6-4 in the top of the seventh, Averey Horton and Marissa Reedy reached on consecutive singles, then Stoney Laughlin doubled home Horton to trim the deficit to 6-5. Teagan Lopez followed with an RBI sacrifice fly that scored Reedy with the tying run. With two outs, Aubrey Greaves’ RBI infield single brought home Laughlin with the decisive run.

The Lady Horns finished with 10 hits – two each by Lopez and Jordan Simmons, along with one apiece from Reedy, Laughlin, Greaves, Horton, Brooklyn McCullough, and Reagan Shults.

In the circle, Grace LaRue hurled 5.2 innings of relief to notch the win, allowing two runs on seven hits with one strikeout. Lopez started and lasted 1.2 innings, yielding four runs – none earned – on four hits with one strikeout.
