On April 5, 2023, our dear mother Bernice Nadine “Sissy” Steddum, got her wings and went to walk with Jesus and the angels. Sissy was 70 years old and born in Rising Star on September 11, 1952.

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She was preceded in death by her parents Nadine and Hughlon Clawson, Lewis Gifford Sr., husband Butch, brother Wayne Clawson. She is survived by her children JD Brewer and wife Stephanie, daughter Kim Hogan and husband Steve, Jason Brewer, Shawn Steddum, Angela Steddum, brother Charles Clawson and wife Katie, brother Lewis Gifford. Her grand children Jonathon Carson and wife Jacklyn, Jacob Carson and wife Shelbie, Kyle Hogan, JT Newton and wife Jaylee, Brittany Coppic and husband Jessie, Colton Brewer and wife Taylor. Great grandchildren Brynnlee and Maddox Carson, Avery Newton, Jet Newton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She left behind her faithful dog Rowdy and her grand dogs Mokie, Junie, and Baby.

She loved her family more than anything (well, maybe besides Rowdy) and was always there when one of us was in need. She was a beautiful person who spread joy and happiness wherever she went. She had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor.

Sissy was a dedicated nurse for many years and loved caring for others. She had a passion for yard work and reading and visiting casinos with her best friend. She will be missed profoundly, and her memory will always live in our hearts and souls.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Lake Brownwood Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the family at heartlandfuneralhome.com.
