Janet Higginbotham, age 86, of Bangs, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 15 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to the graveside service.

Janet was born on June 8, 1936, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to Carl and Helen Groat.

Janet was first and foremost a homemaker, taking care of her 5 children. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was always known as MOM to all her children’s friends. In 1982, Janet along with her then husband, Troy Daniel, opened and operated Sav-On Food Grocery stores. She enjoyed decorating cakes in the stores and enjoyed making her customer’s special occasions even more special. Janet also owned a ceramic shop in Brownwood for several years.

Janet is survived by her three children: Kathy Drisdale and husband Tommy of Denton, Texas, Blane Daniel and wife Patti of Bangs, Texas, Kam Gibson and husband Robert of Early, Texas and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, having daily phone calls with her children and watching her grandchildren grow up. She enjoyed multiple arts and crafts projects.

She is preceded in death by husband Bud Higginbotham; sisters, Marilyn Valouche, and Kathryn Watson; son, Britt Daniel and daughter, Kristi Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Bangs Volunteer Fire Department. Donations can be sent to: Bangs VFD P.O. Box 126 Bangs, Texas 76823 or dropped off at Bangs City Hall 109 First Street Bangs, Texas 76823.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the family at heartlandfuneralhome.com.
