Bangs earns 30 combined berths to area track meet

BANGS – The Bangs Dragons and Lady Dragons secured a combined 30 berths to the area track meet based on their performances at the District 8-2A track meet, which concluded Thursday.

The Lady Dragons secured the varsity girls team title with 149 points, easily outdistancing runner-up Winters (106). The Dragons tallied 121 points in the varsity boys team standings, which left them Colorado City (162.5) and Coleman (123).

The top four finishers advance to Sonora for the 7-2A/8-2A area meet Thursday, April 13.

Area qualifiers include:

1st place

  • Kasey Solis – girls 200 meters, girls long jump and girls triple jump
  • Guy Powell – boys 100 meters
  • Girls 4×100 relay – Raylee Hutchins, Kasey Solis, Joey Newton, Abby Wolf
  • Girls 4×200 relay – Raylee Hutchins, Joey Newton, Kasey Solis, Abby Wolf
  • Boys 4×100 relay – Keygan Pitts, Tyson Woods, Hunter Newton, Guy Powell

2nd place

  • Kenny Cole – boys 110-meter hurdles and boys 300-meter hurdles
  • Julia Scantling – girls 100-meter hurdles
  • Rylie Guerrero – girls 400 meters
  • Houston Tilley – boys pole vault
  • Boys 4×200 relay – Hunter Newton, Tyson Woods, Guy Powell, Keygan Pitts

3rd place

  • Tyson Woods – boys 200 meters and boys long jump
  • Joey Newton – girls 800 meters
  • Keygan Pitts – boys 100 meters
  • Jensine Stephens – girls 300-meter hurdles
  • Keeli Gordon – girls 1600 meters
  • Rylie Guerrero – girls pole vault
  • Gabriella Zapata – girls high jump
  • Leslie Karnes – boys pole vault (tied)
  • Cody Brooks – boys pole vault (tied)

4th place

  • Rex Guerrero – boys 800 meters
  • Gentry Shepard – girls 1600 meters
  • Keeli Gordon – girls 3200 meters
  • Abby Wolf – girls long jump
  • Emily Baker – girls triple jump
  • Mattisyn Taylor – girls discus
  • Boys 4×400 relay – Nate Stoffer, Ryan Dickey, Hunter Hudnall, Rex Guerrero
