EARLY – Down 3-0 after half an inning, the Early Longhorns clawed back to capture a 5-4 District 8-3A baseball triumph Tuesday.

The win was the sixth in a row for Early (11-5, 6-1), which remained in second place in the district standings thanks to the victory.

Early, which finished with nine hits, scored once in the bottom of the second inning and four times in the third to grab the lead. Dublin mustered just one more run in the top of the fifth inning.

The Longhorns generated nine hits, drew a pair of walks and Dublin committed one error.

Ki Houston recorded two hits with an RBI, Caleb McCullough also finished with a pair of hits, and J.D. Nowell contributed one hit and drove in three. Cooper Jacobs added one hit with one RBI, while John-Stewart Gordon, Gavin Sanders and Caydon Laird contributed one hit each.

On the mound, Ethan Pallette went the distance and yielded four runs – two earned – on 10 hits with nine strikeouts.

The Longhorns will visit Brock at 7 p.m. Thursday to start the second half of league play. Early lost the first meeting 10-0 on March 14.
