EASTLAND – The District 8-3A front-running and 11th-ranked Early Lady Horns softball team began the second half of league competition the same way as the first – with a lopsided victory over Eastland.

Early improved to 21-3-2 overall and 8-0 in league play with a 22-4 road triumph Friday over the Lady Mavs.

The Lady Horns led 1-0 after one inning, 5-0 through two frames, and 7-3 after three – then poured on 15 runs in the top of the fourth inning alone.

Early collected 11 hits, drew 12 walks and Eastland committed three errors.

Offensive standouts included Jordan Simmons with two home runs and five RBIs; Stoney Laughlin with two hits – including a home run – and four RBIs; Aubrey Greaves with a double and five RBIs; Grace LaRue with a pair of hits – including a double – and two RBIs; Marissa Reedy and Trinity Torrez both with a single and a pair of RBIs; Teagan Lopez and Averey Horton with one hit apiece; and Brooklyn McCullough tallied an RBI.

In the circle, Lopez worked all four innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The Lady Horns host Dublin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
