In Monday night XFL action, Brownwood’s Matt McCrane converted three field goals in four attempts – including a season-long 50-yarder – as the D.C. Defenders remained undefeated with a 37-26 home victory over the Houston Roughnecks.

McCrane – who also converted kicks of 32 and 34 yards Monday night – has booted a league-best 10 field goals in 12 attempts, and his 83 percent success rate ranks second in the league.

Through six games, the Defenders (6-0) are the XFL’s lone undefeated team. D.C. currently leads the North Division by two games over both the St. Louis Battlehawks (4-2) and Seattle Sea Dragons (4-2), who the Defenders have already defeated. Houston leads the South Division, also with a 4-2 mark.

D.C. has regular season games remaining against the Orlando Guardians at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 1 on ESPN; at Seattle (ESPN2) at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 9; at home against the Arlington Renegades (ESPN) at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 16; and at the San Antonio Brahmas (ABC/ESPN) at 2 p.m. in the Saturday, April 22 regular season finale.

Four teams will advance to the postseason as the XFL league semifinals will take place April 29-30 with the championship game slated for May 13.
