Gary Lildon Hillis, age 76 of Brownwood passed away on Monday, March 14, 2023.

His family will host a visitation on Tuesday, March 21st from 6-8 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, March 22nd at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Newburg Cemetery in Comanche County.

Gary was born Sunday, September 15, 1946 in Snyder, Texas to C.E. and Eva Hillis.  He attended school in Sydney, Texas where he graduated and joined the Army right after.  Gary married the love of his life Marsha Ripley on June 1, 1972 in Comanche and they began a life together that blessed them with a daughter.

Gary loved going fishing with Marsha and loved jokes.  He enjoyed woodworking and making birdhouses.  He also enjoyed completing word puzzles and taking pictures.

Gary is survived by his daughter April Martin; granddaughters, Connor Teel and Shelby Sanchez; grandsons Nicholaus Magana, Hunter Kennemer and Jaxon Martin; sister Mitsy Hardman; brother Mike Hillis; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marsha Hillis; father C.E. Hillis; mother Eva Stewart; 2 brothers, James and Jeryl Hillis.
