Free health screenings and educational information will be offered during the annual Hendrick Community Health and Resource Fair Tuesday, March 21 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum, 500 East Baker Street in Brownwood.

Approximately 60 exhibiters will be present at the event organized by Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood (HMC Brownwood), including many Hendrick Health departments, clinics and providers. Meet-and-greet sessions throughout the day will feature Hendrick Clinic healthcare providers serving the Brownwood area.

“The fair is a wonderful community event that Hendrick is honored to organize,” said Krista Baty, chief administrative officer at HMC Brownwood. “We’re excited that participants will be able to come to one location for health screenings and to learn about the many health resources in our community.”

The free health screenings will check total cholesterol, body fat, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, balance, hearing, vision, stress and glucose.

In addition, there will be information on advance directives, hospital services, providers (primary and specialists), orthopedic joint replacement, home safety, fall prevention, hands-only CPR and infant choking, sleep studies (hospital setting and home study), wound care and hyperbaric medicine, area higher education programs for medical careers and Hendrick employment opportunities.

Representatives from multiple Hendrick inpatient and outpatient services will be available to talk with participants. These services include diabetes education, rehabilitation, cardiology, surgical services, imaging, laboratory, cancer, nursing education, medical supply and information management.

A blood drive is planned too, with the Hendrick Regional Blood Center mobile donation bus parked outside the coliseum.

Several community agencies, educational institutions and nonprofits also will have staffed informational booths.
