Caridad “Carrie” Arteaga Garcia, 75, of Brownwood, Passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The Funeral service will be at the St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood, Friday, March 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Carrie was born on September 3, 1947 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Victor and Maria Arteaga.  She married Armando Garcia and their union was blessed with many children and grandchildren.  Carrie loved norteña, polka and cumbia dances.  She spent hours in her yard growing a garden and tending to flowers.  Carrie worked for over 30 years in the medical field taking care of the elderly but her favorite job was homemaker and grandma to all of her grandkids.  She would spoil them with great meals and frisbee sized homemade tortillas.  Carrie loved to go early to garage sales, take long walks with the grandkids and absolutely loved for the family to all get together at a house for cooking and fun memories.

Carrie is survived by her children, Sylvia and husband Carlos Bazaldua of Galena Park, Armando Garcia Jr. and Stephanie Reed of Brownwood, Yolanda and husband Joe Escobar of Brownwood, Rebecca and husband, Alberto Acosta of Brownwood; 10 grandchildren, Lazara and husband David, Cristal, Zachary, Alissandra, Nikolette and wife Auli’I, Lisette, Jazmin, Jordaan and his fiancé Victoria, Jacob, Alyssa; 5 great grandchildren, Aiden, Emily, Avarie, Rebeca and Alonzo.

Carrie is preceded in death by her husband, Armando H. Garcia; her son, Johnny Joe Romero; her grandson, John Nathaniel Ledesma; great grandson, Arian Nathaniel Renteria; her parents, Victor and Maria Arteaga; her sisters & brothers, Miguel, Heron, Teresa, Francis, Marcos, Mauro and Mercedes.
