Louise Shields, age 84, of Santa Anna, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Care Nursing and Rehabilitation in Early.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion with Charles Walters, III officiating. Interment will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Wanda Louise Kenney on November 11, 1938, in Coleman, to Eugene Kenney and Effie Colly Kenney. She grew up in Coleman where she attended school. Louise married Leo Shields on August 15, 1955, in Santa Anna. With this union five children were born. Louise worked as a certified nurse aide at Ranger Park Nursing Home in Santa Anna. She enjoyed sewing, yardwork, taking care of her plants, and loving her animals. Louise was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her wisdom and love will be missed.

Preceding Louise in death are her parents; her husband, Leo Shields; two sons, Freddie Shields and Billie Joe Shields; and one granddaughter, Ashley Michelle Zabel Walters.

She is survived by her children, Gwen Walters and husband Charles of Early, Thomas “Tommy” Shields and wife Laura Williams of Santa Anna, and Jimmy Shields and wife Chastity of Brownwood; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Patsy Alexander of Ranger, Betty Stroud and husband David of Longview, and Shirley Taylor of Knox City.

The pallbearers will be Raymond Vela, Riley Shields, Tommy Shields, Charles Walters, Dillon Walters, Weston Shields, and Troy Tomme.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Shields family by signing the guestbook on Louise’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhomecom. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shields family.
