John Henry Horrell Jr.

John Henry Horrell Jr., Born March 14, 1945, went home to with our heavenly father on February 27, 2023. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in May, TX. Visitation will be held Friday March 3, 2023 at Brownwood Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm.

John was born to John Henry Horrell and Helen Lavern Horrell, in Abeline, TX. After graduating High School, John joined the Army from 1963 to 1966, in Germany. He then married Gladys Mae Sudduth, on March 24, 1967. They had 5 beautiful children. John put up metal buildings with his brothers Terry Horrell and Ben Horrell along with his good friend H.B. Smith (Lefty), and his nephew’s. He was also a security guard for a bank. Before retirement, he worked at Triad as a pusher. John loved to be outdoors whether it be playing horseshoes, washers, or even corn hole. John also loved to fish and enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and playing tennis. His best game to play was domino’s. He loved playing card games, blitz, skip-bo, or solitaire. He looked forward to the Cotton and Horrell reunion’s so he could visit and swap stories with the young at heart.

John is proceeded in death by his wife Gladys Horrell, his daughter Tonya Wade, his father John Horrell, his mother Helen Seals, his brother’s Tom David Horrell, Donnie Horrell and Harold Wilson, his sister in law’s Gloria Horrell and Betty Horrell and grandfather James Seals.

John is survived by his daughter’s Sheryl Kinney and husband Milton Kinney, Twila King and husband William King, Cindy King and husband Jeff King, Sandra Webb and husband Robert Webb, son John Horrell III and his husband Greg Holder. He has 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephew’s and he loved every one of them dearly.
