The Heart of Texas Chapter of Buckmasters has presented a donation of $1000 to the Central Texas Veterans Memorial.  Larry Hart, National Director of the Buckmasters American Deer Foundation presented the check on Tuesday to Harold Stieber, President of the Central Texas Veterans Memorial, Inc.

The local Buckmasters raises money for donations with their annual charity banquet.  In fact, they have the largest Buckmasters banquet in the country.  Last year’s banquet raised a record $190,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, auctions, and raffles.  This year’s banquet, to be held on March 11, is already sold out.

The money raised by the Buckmasters is donated to many good causes in the Central Texas area.  Last year they sponsored 17 “Life Hunts” for children with serious illnesses and disabilities as well as wounded veterans. They donate to Camp Able, an equine re-hab center for children and adults.  They donate to food pantries in four counties, the Good Samaritan food project, the Brown County Youth Fair, and 4-H Shooting Sports.  They also sponsor the annual 4-H Extravaganza, which had lost its state funding, with a $5,000 per year donation.

Of today’s donation to the Veterans Memorial Park, Hart commented:  “We have been involved with the Central Texas Veterans Memorial for 16 years.  In encases our history of Brown County.  We are just proud to be a part of it.  We give a donation each year to keep this park up and to add to it.  It’s a beautiful site.  And we are proud to be able to raise the funds to be able to help this project and keep our history preserved in this war memorial.”

The Veterans Memorial will host a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m., and a Veterans Day program on Friday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m.
