Brownwood tennis earns gold, silver and bronze medals at Waco High tournament

WACO – The Brownwood High tennis team earned a first, second and third-place finish at the Waco High Spring tournament on Friday.

Capturing a championship were Taevion Nickerson and Tyler Mitchell in boys B doubles, while Peter Le reached the finals in boys A singles. Coming in third was the boys A doubles duo of River Prado and Taylor Singleton.

Complete results for all competitors from Brownwood – which will be back in action Friday, March 3 when it hosts its own tournament – can be found below:

BOYS B DOUBLES – Taevion Nickerson and Tyler Mitchell defeated McMillian and Eneli of Harker Heights, 4-2, 4-2; defeated Armstrong and Chandler of Waxahachie, 4-1, 4-0; defeated Lopez and Flowers of Hays Consolidated 6-4, 6-2 in the championship.

BOYS A SINGLES – Peter Le defeated Carter Fitzgerald of Waxahachie, 4-0, 2-4, 10-6; defeated Cole Younts of Hays Consolidated, 6-2, 6-2; lost to Slone Early of Gatesville, 6-1, 6-1, in the championship.

BOYS A DOUBLES – River Prado and Jacob Singleton defeated Rico and Cassens of Killeen Ellison, 4-5(6), 5-3, 10-3; lost to Hughson and Chapman of Caldwell, 6-4, 6-4; defeated Telshaw and Neighbors of Richardson Berkner, 6-2, 6-2 for third place.

GIRLS A SINGLES – Madeleine Goff lost to Ona Eneli of Harker Heights, 4-0, 4-0; lost to Carli Reames of Waxahachie, 5-3, 4-2; lost to Jordan Perkkio of Caldwell, 5-3, 4-0.

GIRLS B SINGLES – Daphne Nance lost to Lily Stockton of Waxahachie, 4-0, 4-2; lost to Cayleigh Hempel of Killeen Ellison, 4-2, 5-3; lost to Mira Goodsuhm of Waco High, 4-2, 4-0.

GIRLS A DOUBLES – Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey lost to Medford and Bounds of Waxahachie, 4-0, 1-4, 10-7; lost to Savage and Hicks of Caldwell, 4-0, 2-4, 10-7; defeated Chaney and Vu of Richardson Berkner, 4-0, 5-3.

GIRLS B DOUBLES – Lyric Shaw and Claire Meinecke lost to Denson and Opolot of Harker Heights, 4-2, 4-2; defeated Meng and Adejumo of Richardson Berkner, 2-4, 4-0, 10-2; lost to Camacho and Esparza of Killeen Ellison, 1-4, 4-1, 10-4.

MIXED DOUBLES A – Eric Smith and Ashlyn Bundick lost to Athey and Vogler of Caldwell, 5-3, 4-2; lost to Mabry and Sanchez of Gatesville, 4-2, 2-4, 10-6; defeated Cunningham and Snyder of Waco High, 4-1, 4-2.

MIXED DOUBLES B – Eric Waldop and Anna Daniel lost to Fritsche and Ramos of Caldwell, 5-3, 41; defeated Garcia and Fast of Gatesville, 4-2, 4-2; defeated Everett and Hack of Waco High, 2-4, 4-2, 10-2.
