LITTLE RIVER-ACADEMY – Noah Barron scored a career-high five goals, including three on headers, to spark the Brownwood Lions to an 8-1 road victory over Little River-Academy Friday night in the final game of the first half District 5-4A action.

After a 15-minute dry spell, Barron reeled off three goals in five minutes – including two of the headers – as the Lions opened a 3-0 lead midway though the first half.

Caleb Nelson tacked on his lone goal before intermission, and the Lions (8-9-1, 4-2) were in front 4-0 at halftime.

Brownwood yielded a goal 10 minutes into the second half, but Barron immediately responded for a 6-1 cushion, then added his final goal five minutes later.

Midway through the half, Jakson Yoder and Junior Martinez chipped in goals just over a minute apart and Brownwood cruised to the finish line.

The Lions will seek a third straight District 5-4A victory as they open the second half of the league slate at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lampasas. Brownwood won the first meeting, 3-0, on the road.
