Representative David Spiller (Jacksboro) has been appointed to serve on the House Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on State Affairs, and the House Committee on General Investigating for the 88th Legislative Session.

“I am honored to have been appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to serve on the Appropriations, State Affairs, and General Investigating Committees. With a record budget surplus, I am eager to bring my experience and expertise to these important initiatives, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to find meaningful solutions that will benefit all Texans,” said Representative Spiller.

The House Committee on Appropriations is a 27 member Committee and has jurisdiction over all bills and resolutions appropriating money from the state treasury and most importantly the state budget. The State Affairs Committee is a 13 member Committee with a very broad jurisdiction, ranging from regulating electric generation and transmission, telecommunications providers, and pipelines; to overseeing general governmental operations and administration; to cybersecurity, and several other important issues. The House Committee on General Investigating is a five member Committee that may initiate or continue inquiries concerning the state government, state agencies, expenditure of public funds, and other matters necessary for the welfare and protection of state citizens.

David Spiller is the State Representative for House District 68, which includes 12 rural counties: Brown, Comanche, Cooke, Eastland, Jack, Lampasas, Mills, Montague, San Saba, Shackelford, Throckmorton, and Young.
