Betty Jo Purcell

Betty Jo Purcell, age 81 of Burkett, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 14th in the Windham Cemetery located at: 4411 Co Rd 116, Brownwood, TX 76801.

Betty was born on Friday, October 24, 1941 to Fred and Nita Purcell in Owens, TX. The most important thing to Betty Jo was her family. She loved being outdoors near a riverbed, making memories with a cold one and a smoke. She enjoyed the simple things in life, later in life sitting around the table playing Yahtzee with her friends, was one of her favorite things to do. Along with telling stories and talking about the good ole days, with her best friends, Shorty and Angie. She loved her son and grandsons with all her heart.

Betty Jo is survived by her grandsons, Troy Wayne Weiss Jr and wife Shelbie, Dustin Kyle Weiss and wife Ranee all of Santa Anna; sister Maria Hays of Brownwood; brothers O.J. Purcell, Mike Purcell and wife Cyndra all of Brownwood; 5 great grandchildren, Garrett, Adalyn, Lydia, Isaiah and Kylee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Troy Wayne Weiss; brothers, Walter Melton Purcell, Eddie Purcell and Larry Purcell; sister Tula Simmons.
