Brownwood tennis earns a first, third and consolation title at Fort Worth South Hills

FORT WORTH – The Brownwood High school tennis team brought home a gold medal, a bronze medal, and a consolation crown from the Fort Worth South Hills tournament Friday.

Jacob Singleton captured the boys singles B championship, Peter Le came in third in the boys singles A draw, and Eric Smith and Ashlyn Bundick bounced back from a first-round loss to run the table the rest of the way in mixed doubles A action. In girls singles B competition, Jazzmyn Sanchez reached the consolation finals and dropped her last match.

The following are the results for all Brownwood entries at the South Hills tournament:

Boys Singles B – Jacob Singleton beat Caden Gaber of Lake Worth, 8-0; beat Jaxon King of Denton Ryan, 8-1; beat Keane Ferdinand of Burleson, 8-4; beat Jackson Hix of Burleson, 4-1, 1-4, 10-6 in the championship match

Boys Singles A – Peter Le beat Kerry Nguyen of Arlington Bowie, 8-3; beat Brody Miller of Peaster, 8-1; lost 8-4 to Kaleb Russell of Burleson; beat Shepard Fosdyke-Jackson of Denton Ryan, 4-1, 4-2 for third place

Mixed Doubles A – Eric Smith and Ashlyn Bundick lost 8-6 to Benitez-Reyes and Fritz; beat Reed and Timberlake of Lake Worth, 8-2; beat Tran and Nguyen of Arlington Bowie, 8-3; beat Lopez and Saaved of Everman, 8-6, in the consolation final.

Girls Singles B – Jazzmyn Sanchez lost 8-1 to Lexi Warford of Fossil Ridge; beat Leilani Landeros of Lake Worth, 8-4; beat Daelia Soriano of South Grand Prairie, 8-2; lost 8-1 to Megan Baadsgaard of Cleburne in the consolation final.

Boys Doubles A – River Prado and Taevion Nickerson beat Gose and Odonez of Benbrook, 8-3; lost 8-2 to Evetts and Pippin of Chisholm Trail.

Girls Doubles A – Emma Delgado and Raylei Hickey beat Luc and Karki of Fossil Ridge, 8-6; lost 8-3 to Gilbert and Tatum of Peaster.

Girls Singles A – Ihana Ferguson lost 8-0 to Lily Fojtasek of Cleburne; lost 8-4 to Kennedy Wilson of South Grand Prairie

Boys Doubles B – Tyler Mitchell and Eric Waldrop lost 8-1 to Dearman and Jackson of Cleburne; beat Habinger and Adam of Denton Ryan 8-8 (4); lost 8-6 to Altmilller and Trink of Benbrook

Girls Doubles B – Claire Meinicke and Lyric Shaw beat Clark and Bryce of Denton Ryan, 8-3; lost 8-0 to Garcia and Rabideau of Peaster

Mixed Doubles B – Wesley Goodrich and Neely Mullins beat Ngo and Dinh of Arlington Bowie, 8-0; lost 8-3 to Ball and Nguyen of Chisholm Trail

The Lions and Lady Lions will be back in action Feb. 24 at the Waco High Invitational.
