The board of directors of nonprofit Comanche County Medical Center (CCMC) has announced that Helen C. Ong, MD, an experienced and long-time pediatrician is joining the CCMC health system and moving her practice this spring from Stephenville to Comanche.

Dr. Ong will start in May. She will develop a new pediatric service for the CCMC health system which will provide medical care, in-person and virtually, to children in the six-county service area, which includes Erath and Hamilton.

“We are very pleased that Helen has agreed to take on this key role in our area,” says Barbara Williams, PhD, president of the CCMC Board. “She is very skilled to meet the unique needs of children through their developmental stages, and it’s a specialty our customers demand.”

Dr. Ong will provide in-person care in both Doctors Medical Center clinic, on the CCMC main medical campus, and Dublin Family Medicine in downtown Dublin. She will also be a key provider for the new CCMC in-school telehealth program, recently implemented at school districts including Dublin, De Leon, and Comanche.

Dr. Ong began her medical practice after completing Pediatrics Residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, a large nonprofit, acute care hospital and academic medical center. She received her doctorate in 1984 from the University of Santo Tomas, College of Medicine in Manila, Philippines, the first medical school in the country, established in 1871. Dr. Ong is board-certified in General Pediatrics with the American Board of Pediatrics and is licensed by the Texas Medical Board. She is a member of Texas Medical Association.

New and current patients will be able to make appointments in May when Dr. Ong’s schedule is announced. With the CCMC medical campus just 35 miles from Stephenville, and Dublin much closer, it is hoped that her current patients and families will continue to see her for care.
