Clydale Hampton passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. Visitation with family will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2023. Chapel service will be at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2023 with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early officiated by Pastors, Dalton Mathis and Jimmy Mize.

Clydale was born August 6, 1936 in Placid, Texas to Clyde and Lillie Mae Mathews. She graduated from Rochelle and attended Daniel Baker College. While in Brownwood attending college she met the man of her dreams at Bills Drive-in. Clydale married Harold Payne “HP” Hampton on December 20, 1956. Their union blessed them with three children. Clydale loved to play volleyball on the city league and did so for many years where she made many friends. She went to work for the Department of Human Services where she retired after 30 years of service. When HP and her retired, they vacationed in their RV Camper traveling to many states including Canada.

Clydale loved the Lord, family and friends. She always had a good time which was important to her. Clydale was a member of the Salt Creek Baptist Church and served on the hostess committee in which she washed many dishes. She also volunteered at Good Samaritan. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens center to eat lunch, fellowship and would also help serve the meals.

Clydale taught all of her grandkids how to play dominos and would sit and play cards with them. Her kids, grandkids and great grandkids were very special to her.

Clydale had a group of friends that her children deemed the “Golden Girl Gang” and she loved to host all the birthday parties for her golden girl gang where they played games, ate and talked for hours.

Clydale is survived by her children, Vickie Brown and husband Eugene, Kenneth Hampton and wife Ernestine, Kristi Roberts and husband, Rocky; grandchildren, Cody Lawrence & wife Karly, their children, Kinsey and Kisely of Abilene, Kyle Lawrence & wife Megan and their children, Kooper and Lindy of Alba, Roxi and Khloe Roberts of Early, Jennifer Mitchell & husband Craig and their children, Dylani, Kiley and Jasmin, Jason Nelson and Stefanie Paine; her sister, Judy Mathews and husband James of San Angelo; the Golden Girl Gang, Estelle Guthrie, Virginia Patterson, Linda Mosely, Pat Beam, JoAnna Wilson, Janie Elam, Francis Baker, Laura Ribble, Donna Clay, JoAnn Snow and many more that make that group so special; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.

Clydale was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold “HP” Hampton and her parents, Clyde and Lillie Mae Mathews.
