The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Friday morning:

On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at approximately 1:20pm, officers with the Brownwood Police Department received a report of a reckless driver traveling westbound in the 300blk of W Commerce.  The initial caller reported the vehicle traveling in the middle lane as well as across multiple lanes while being followed.

Officer Scott Ferguson was able to locate the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop in the 800blk of W Commerce.  When Ofc Ferguson approached the vehicle, the female driver looked in his direction then accelerated away.  Ofc Ferguson and Sergeant Jesse Mares then initiated a pursuit of the vehicle as it traveled on W Commerce and out of town toward Bangs.

While following the vehicle, speeds varied on the highway from 50 mph up to 85 and then down again.  Just prior to entering the City of Bangs jurisdiction, the vehicle turned in the median and began traveling back toward the City of Brownwood.

The Bangs Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit.  Prior to reaching ‘Bangs Hill’, Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were able to deploy spike strips, flattening all tires.  The vehicle came to a stop and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 52yr old Thanh Duong Ben-Mansour of Houston.  A Communications check revealed that Ms Mansour was reported as a missing person five days ago.  Ms Mansour was unable to provide an explanation for her behavior or for her whereabouts the previous days.

Ms Mansour was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention in a Vehicle.  She was transported to the Brown County Jail without further incident.
