Edward Simpson

Edward LaRoy Simpson, age 80 passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 peacefully at his home.

Edward was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1942 in Bibb, Texas to James and Lorene Simpson. He graduated from Bangs High School. Ed married Donna Jean Trusedell on February 19, 1963 and they began a life together that blessed them with two children.

Edward was a retired professional Fire Fighter of 30 years, with the Brownwood Fire Department. He was also a graduate of the International Bible Institute and Seminary. Ed served in the U. S. Army Field Artillery and was stationed in Germany. He also worked for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, where he built F-111 jets for the U.S. Military. He was a collector of Studebakers, pocket watches, knives and guns, which he enjoyed very much. Ed was a member and Deacon at the Trinity Chapel in Early.

Ed was a family man first and foremost and he worked tirelessly to provide the best for his wife and two sons. Edward made an impact on every person he met and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Edward is survived by his loving wife Donna Jean Simpson of May; sons, Edward LaRoy Simpson II and wife Marivic of May, Kevin Gregory Simpson and fiancé Michelle Wilkins of Lake Brownwood; brother Randy Purcell of May; sister Betty Lou Chambers of May and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arlie Simpson and Lorene Purcell Simpson; step-father Raymond Purcell; brother James William Simpson; sisters, Judy Ann Kiser and Peggy Waddle.

Ed’s family will host a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at Freedom Fellowship Church in Early.
