Friends,

As 2022 draws to a close, I’d like to thank all of you that have supported our efforts to serve this district and the Great State of Texas!
These past few weeks have reminded me how special our House District 60 communities are- from epic football games to Christmas celebrations to charitable events, people across the district have displayed the Texas spirit that makes serving this district such a privilege. Our towns and citizens foster a culture of success and this will be carried with me as I head into the 88th Legislative session in Austin.

Below are some examples of my recent activities:

Last week was an exciting week for schools across my district (new and old) with State Championship football games. The Albany Lions won the Class 2A Div. II State Championship. This was their first football state championship since 1961. Coach Denney Faith, a renowned coach for the last 36 years, was awarded his first state title. The Brock Eagles finished a tremendous season with a narrow loss in the last few seconds of their championship game. After the game, in a remarkable display of sportsmanship, both teams gathered at midfield for a moment of silence and prayer led by Coach Mathis. Then Saturday, the Aledo Bearcats won their 11th State Championship, the most in the history of Texas football. It was an honor to place medals around the necks of these Aledo athletes. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in these victories: players, coaches, teachers, administrators, bands, cheerleaders, dancers, parents, fans, and our communities.

Last week, I visited the Freedom House in Weatherford. Their work helps victims of family and domestic violence and victims of sexual assault. Programs include therapy, temporary shelter, and policy advocacy. Thank you to Programs Manager Lou Curry and Executive Director Patti Wilson for hosting me and for your work to keep victims safe.

It was an honor to host Kari Reed and her students from Millsap at my Mineral Wells District 60 Office. We talked about state government and then enjoyed hot chocolate at the Crazy Water pavilion! Speaking to students is easily my favorite part of my public service!

A visit with Parker County Justice of the Peace 2, Kelly Green and his enthusiastic staff, was informative and beneficial to understanding the needs of Parker County JP Courts.

We recently presented a Certificate of Recognition to Bennett’s Office Supply for 60 years of business in Mineral Wells. Small businesses are integral to our communities and Bennett’s has provided great service for many years. They are amazing community supporters and good people!

I enjoyed the Frontier Christmas at the Old Jail Museum in Palo Pinto by visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and listening to live country music. Always a favorite event!

The Famous Mineral Wells Water Company has led the charge to revitalize Mineral Wells. They currently employ 57 people and distribute “Crazy Water” across the United States. Hats off to rural entrepreneurs Scott and Carol Elder for their leadership!

I attended a Christmas Luncheon in Hudson Oaks, supporting the Salvation Army, Parker County Senior Center, Battered Women, Parker County Meals on Wheels, and the Texas Pythian Home with donations of frozen turkeys. It was a wonderful event for amazing organizations.

This year I have received a new seat in the House Chamber. Serving as your State Representative is more than a full-time job, yet I am grateful for every moment. When I am not wearing my suit in Austin, or serving in the district, I am back at my ranch conducting other business, like pregnancy testing cows.

Thanks to local artist and fellow Aledo UMC member Marilyn Brumley for her work on the District 60 Christmas tree ornament. It is proudly displayed on the Capitol Christmas tree.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Redistricting
As a result of the 2020 Census, the legislative districts for the State of Texas have been redrawn. House District 60 will now be comprised of Stephens, Palo Pinto, and Parker Counties.

Representative Rogers will continue to represent the current 8 counties in District 60 (Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Eastland, Hood, Palo Pinto, Shackelford and Stephens) until January, 2023, when the Texas Legislature convenes for the 88th Legislative Session. Click here to find out who will be representing you in 2023.

My Office

My staff and I are ready and available to hear from you! The Texas Capitol is open to the public. Currently, my Capitol office is only open for limited times due to a focus on work directly with constituents in House District 60. If you are in need of assistance or would like to schedule a meeting, feel free to reach out to my office!
