Catlyn Ward (0) finished with 14 points as she converted a trio of three-pointers for HPU (2-4), which opens conference play Thursday at UT-Dallas.

The Howard Payne University women’s basketball team dropped a non-conference game with Schreiner University 85-51 Sunday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Turnovers and struggles shooting in the second half for Howard Payne lead to the non-conference loss for the Lady Jackets. Schreiner outrebounded HPU 44-32 and forced 24 Lady Jackets turnovers in the game.

Bria Neal led HPU with a season-high 20 points with 10 rebounds. It was Neal’s fifth double-double of the season. Catlyn Ward followed with 14 points on 3 of 6 three-point shooting. Brenna Welsh had three assists.

Schreiner was led by Demauria Miles with 11 points followed by Andrea Salazar with 10 points.

Howard Payne is now 2-4 overall and Schreiner stands at 3-4 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play next on Dec. 1st in Richardson, Texas versus UT Dallas. It will be the conference opener of HPU starting at 5:30 pm.
