Johnny “John” Marven Brown, 77, of May passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.
Funeral services for John will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 at the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 18 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Pallbearers will be Johnny D. Brown, M. Wade Brown, Jesse D. Brown, Samuel Brown, Johnny B. Brown, John Oliver Brown, and Haydon Shipman. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
John was born on August 13, 1945, to Roy Brown and Juanita (Bramblett) Brown in Memphis, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. John retired from GTE after 31 years and later retired as the Maintenance Director at Brownwood Independent School District. John loved being outdoors on his property, tending to his livestock, and riding on his John Deere tractor. John was a man of integrity who loved the Lord. He was humble, lived by example, and was always there for anyone who needed help.
Those left to cherish John’s memory include his wife of 56 years, Kay Brown of May; sons, Johnny Dwayne Brown and wife Marielena also of May, Marven Wade Brown and wife Leah currently residing in Virginia, and Jesse David Brown and wife Juna of Wimberley; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Roy Clayton Brown and wife Sharon of Amarillo; sisters, Gracie Burkhalter of Oklahoma, Marie Norton of Amarillo, and Billie Helen Ford of Clarendon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Juanita Brown, and a sister, Kay Miller.
