Johnathan “John” Frederick Gibson, 63, left this world in peace on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at his home.

Celebration of Life for John will be held from 3 – 5 p.m. on Friday, November 18, at The Feedlot in Richland Springs. A private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

John was born on October 8, 1959, in San Saba, to J.C. “Hoot” Gibson and Nona Marie (Bryant) Gibson. He grew up on Deep Creek Ranch and attended school in Richland Springs. John spent many years driving a truck across the countryside and working security at some of his favorite watering holes. Along with his love for woodworking, John’s passion was cooking, and he loved both competing in cook-offs and cooking for benefits to help others. John also adored his “critters” and his blue healers, his latest being Bear.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jacob Gibson of College Station. He also leaves behind his adopted children, James Mann and Robin Wright both of Brownwood, along with their children as his adopted grandchildren. John is also survived by his brother, Douglas Gibson and wife Wanda of Richland Springs; his sister, Cathy Brockman and husband Rob of Richland Springs; and his sister-in-law, Grace Gibson, also of Richland Springs. In addition, he has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Nona Gibson; brother, Jerry Gibson; and sister, Andrea Bode.

In lieu of flowers, his children have requested that memorials be made to Operation Redwings, Irreverent Warriors, or Hoofbeats for Heroes, in loving memory of Jonathan F. Gibson.

Online condolences to the family can be made at www.blaylockfuneral.com.
