The following questions were sent by Brownwood News to all candidates in the race for BISD School Board, Place 7.

What is your connection to BISD?

I have a son that is a freshman in the Brownwood ISD. I have also coached a majority of the freshman young men in either soccer or baseball. I have friends and family that have children that attend or work at BISD. My mother was an employee of BISD for over 15 years.

Why do you want to serve on the BISD School Board?

When the position became available, I saw an opportunity to serve the community and to set an example for our school district. I want to do my part for the community and the Brownwood Independent School District. I have found that getting involved is the best way that I can serve.

How would your addition to the school board be an improvement?

I believe that I would bring a fresh perspective to the board. As a parent of a student and like so many other parents, we want what is best for our sons and daughters / students. I have family and friends that have worked or are currently working for a school district. We have had many discussions and I have heard what their concerns are, and I feel I can offer insight to what the school board can do to help everyone involved.

What do you hope to accomplish during your tenure should you be elected?

I would like to do as much as I can to help the students and the employees of Brownwood ISD. With the relationships I have developed over the years with the parents and students, I feel I can help facilitate the work needed. Together I know we can do what is best for everyone by removing obstacles and prioritizing needs.
