In front of a homecoming crowd, the Dragons (4-2, 2-0) kept Goldthwaite (0-7, 0-3) winless thanks in part to a 412-yard effort – 248 rushing and 164 passing – on the offensive end.

Guy Powell eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark on the ground for the season with 188 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries Friday night.

Meanwhile, quarterback Kenny Cole connected on 9 of 15 passes for 164 yards and three scoring tosses, while chipping in 39 yards rushing.

Leading receivers for Bangs included Nate Stoffer with three grabs for 44 yards, Skyler Minshew with two for 53 yards and a touchdown; Guy Funk hauled in a 26-yard touchdown pass; Powell pulled down a 22-yard scoring reception; and Keygan Pitts finished with one grab for 19 yards.

Other ground contributors were Pitts with a 1-yard touchdown run, Minshew with two carries for 19 yards, Ethan Ethridge added a 1-yard run.

Defensively, the Dragons forced four turnovers as Funk picked off two passes, Weston Jundt intercepted another, and Powell pounced on a fumble.

Powell tallied a team-high 10 tackles followed by Ethridge with eight, Pitts with seven, and Brayden Fields and Sergio Lopez each with seven tackles, including one for loss.

For Goldthwaite, the Eagles produced 178 total yards – all on the ground.
