The Lions (4-2) begin District 2-4A Division I action at home at 7 p.m. Friday as they host the Big Spring Steers (4-2), as Brownwood is seeking its first district championship since 2010.

The Brownwood Lions slipped from No. 5 to No. 10 in the most recent Harris Ratings Class 4A Division I ratings following last week’s 42-21 setback against defending state champion and top-ranked Stephenville.

Brownwood, which climbed as high as No. 9 in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 4A Division I Top 10, no longer appears in those rankings this week.

The rest of the Harris 4A Division I Top 10 is comprised of No. 1 Stephenville, No. 2 China Spring, No. 3 Boerne, No. 4 Corpus Christi Calallen, No. 5 Anna, No. 6 Kilgore, No. 7 Celina, No. 8 Lumberton and No. 9 Kaufman.

The Lions (4-2) begin District 2-4A Division I action at home at 7 p.m. Friday as they host the Big Spring Steers (4-2), as Brownwood is seeking its first district championship since 2010.

Brownwood’s two losses this season have come against Stephenville and 5A Division II No. 14 Abilene Wylie, with victories over Marble Falls, Burnet, 4A Division II No. 8 Glen Rose and 4A Division II No. 11 Waco Connally.

In other rankings of local interest, Coleman (5-1) is No. 6 in Class 2A Division I, Cross Plains (5-0) is No. 19 in Class 2A Division II, Comanche (4-1) is No. 21 in Class 3A Division II, and Early (2-3) is No. 24 in Class 3A Division II.
